Smartphone with Accessibility Apps
The Samsung Android smartphone is equipped with a range of accessibility tools to support visual assistance.
The Smart Magnifier app turns the phone into a digital magnifying glass, using the camera’s zoom, autofocus, and LED flash to enhance the visibility of small text and objects.
Samsung devices include a built-in Magnifier feature that zooms in on the screen for easier viewing.
The Google Lookout app is also installed to help users with visual impairments explore their environment. It offers multiple modes, including:
- Text Mode: Scans and reads aloud printed text.
- Documents Mode: Captures pages of text or handwriting.
- Explore Mode: Identifies objects, people, and text in surroundings.
- Currency Mode: Recognises banknotes.
- Food Labels Mode: Identifies packaged foods using labels or barcodes.
- Find Mode: Locates objects and gives directional feedback.
- Images Mode: Captures and describes images.
Lookout uses the phone’s camera and sensors and is supported on devices with Android 6 or later and at least 2GB of RAM. It supports over 30 languages.
