When smart lighting is the smart solution
Deborah is no stranger to smart solutions, so when smart lighting was recommended it made perfect sense.

Situation
Deborah, a woman in her 60s, has lived with rheumatoid arthritis since she was 18. Despite experiencing pain, joint weakness, and limited range of motion, Deborah is very resilient and lives independently in her own home. She has restricted mobility and can be unsteady on her feet at times, finding movement slow and painful.
Smart solutions have already made a big difference to Deborah. She had a smart lock and video doorbell installed previously which meant she was no longer rushing to get to the door. This provided peace of mind and a sense of control. However, Deborah was having difficulty getting to the light switches as well as lifting her arm high enough to access the switch. This process was both time- and energy-consuming, and painful. As a result, she often left the lights on all day and night as this was the easier option.
Solution
Following an assessment, Stretchy Tech recommended smart lighting to allow Deborah to control her lights from the comfort of her lounge chair, where she spends much of her time.
Stretchy Tech’s electrician further recommended that Philips Hue lighting would offer the greatest benefits given the existing electrical layout in Deborah’s home.
This lighting solution offers a range of access methods including app and voice control, as well as the ability to program custom automations.
Outcome
Philips Hue lighting was installed in the main living area of Deborah's house where she spends most of her time. This has had many benefits, including the fact that Deborah is now able to control the lighting in this room without having to get up from her lounge chair. She now has control of her lighting and doesn’t need to leave it on all the time.
Deborah can also dim her lights and control them using her voice or an app on her phone. Wireless switches were mounted on the wall at a lower position than the existing switches, providing Deborah with a far more accessible height at which to control the lights when using the wall switch.
Deborah is thrilled with her new smart lighting and is hoping to expand the solution through other parts of her home.
